If you hop around on the internet as much as I do (or even less), you are bound to notice the increasing number of companies realising the need of reaching out to their potential customers in every possible way. And thus we are witnessing advertising like never before. Companies have realised that to reach out to maximum number of people, they are going to need help of social media and hence we are expiriencing the surge in social media advertising.
A few months back, Kmart initiated a social media marketing campaign in association with Izea. The objectives were to increase awareness about Kmart in social media space using their affinity with top bloggers like Chris Brogan, Wendy Piersall, and Julia Roy and others. It also aimed to increase traffic to kmart.com.
And the Social Media Campaign Case Study is now out.
If you are an advertiser, you sure want to look into how advertising on social media can give you an edge over your competitors. Just within a day of the launch of the campaign, the number of tweets that contained the word “kmart” rocketed from about 70 to 1260. The average reach of any particular tweet was a staggering 774 people.
The campaign sure brought fortunes to the company. 91.6% of bloggers first heard of 25,000 gifts under $25 from socialspark and out of 91.6%, 97.2% said they are more likely to purchase from that huge list after writing about the product. Thats a hefty conversion rate!
