[poll id="13"]

(I have written on this Mangalore incident on my other blog. In case you dont follow it, you can find the post here: Women attacked in a pub in Mangalore)

I asked the question of the poll in this post to about 11 people in my class.
8 out of 11 opted for option number 3 while 1 person each selected option number 2,4, and 6. Of the 5 girls,1 of them chose 2 option as her voice while rest went with # 3. Out of 6 guys, 3 selected option # 3 while 1 each went for 4 and 6. The one which selected option 6 had this to say “WTF”. (WTF!?)

I also asked them to write their views on the issue if they wanted to. Here is what a few of them had to say:

1. Nikhila (female):

Westernisation to some extent is fine. The main use of clothes is to cover yourself,in the name of westernisation people dress sensually. They think that wearing small clothes (tiny infact) is modern and fashion. Obviously they give a wrong idea.People can say they can wear whatever they wish. But she is not the one who sees herself in that dress. So we have to dress in a way that we dont pose any wrong idea to others.

2. Anonymous (Male):

3rd option because everyone has his/her way and right to live. No one can change anyone by force. One can be changed himself only and not by any other. So to do this kind of deed to anyone is a hinious crime. So I opt 3rd, because it depends on person whether she/he should follow her culture or be much westernised as said one can be changed by himself.

3. Anonymous (Female)

These kind of offenses, who ever do these crimes should be hanged till death. The people who can not respect life and others, they dont have a right to live.

I wanted to go with option 3 because I basically agree with that. That said, there is a limit to all this moral policing. And nobody has the right to do moral policing, except one’s parents and certainly, not policing but just advice. Everyone has the right to live life the way they please as long as it doesn’t violate the law of the land. Just when I thought politicians couldn’t shame themselves more, this happens. Beating women? These are at the bottom of the social foodchain along with rapists, pedophiles n such. These politicians and activists serve no purpose to this country other than embarrassing it.

    Pubs & The Hindu Culture……

Well now we have the entry and the discussion of cultures….what’s in the pub culture that’s not hindu….Great….we now have Chief Ministers and Politicians becoming Moral Policemen and deciding whats right and whats not for you and me as deemed by Hindu culture….

The first thing they need to know is that elections and even democracy is not our culture…it is a part of our Nation Building Exercise and derived from our constitution….if they quote culture then they cannot Remain…what say?

Similarly….having gone through all those culture related ancient texts…I do non see Shri Ramji wearing pants…neither is Mata Sita there with a salwar so to say?

Then even schools and colleges cannot be our culture since the texts were limited only to certain caste based donkeys…what say?…and what of the temples…etc…can we enter?

And the net and computers should be banned…why?…not part of our culture foolish…so too all the trains, cars, buses, planes..what say?

And what of the army…navy and the air force…well they should wear dhoties…so simple…No Doctors and those allopathic medicines…no burgers..no rotis…no so much and so much stuff that we are doing has to stop..

The tv..movies…stage and shows…no..no…absolutely not…what about the President and the Prime Minister…no…no….not part of the hindu culture…and women at work…absolutely no…no….in the house…do away with them…

And what about the watches…cameras…handy cams….and the ipod…and the mp3/mp4….and what about the newspapers…and the unending list….
In fact we need to try and fly the bullock cart….our culture …what say? And moon going…never…not culture…

And no lifts in the buildings…why…not our culture….whew..this is really getting good….just imagine the new cultural hindu India…..yahoo….welcome to the Hindu Culture World….where there are no boundaries….not the Hindu Culture…only the boundaries of gender, caste, creed, and all the other things…..

Well as we know, bashing women is not Indian culture. Those who talk of Indian culture do not know what it is. They just want there share of publicity.

  4. Mayank Says:

@Bharatwaj I strongly agree with whatever you said.

I blog a lot with LOTS of text so I think wordpress would be a very superior choice for me. Proper now I’m using weebly on fatcow and it sucks because fatcow (or weebly) gauges you when you don’t use weebly on the weebly web site itself. You pay 3.99 a month for pro features on weebly’s web-site. You pay 9.95 for the month for your premium’ features on fatcow and after that another 2.95 a month for shopping cart functionality which is free on the weebly web site to begin with. Plus, the fatcow weebly builder lacks a lot of features weebly’s actual web-site has. You pay $13/mo on fatcow’s weebly and get significantly less features than paying $4/mo on weebly’s actual web-site.

Thanks for discussing your ideas with this blog. Additionally, a fable regarding the financial institutions intentions when talking about home foreclosure is that the bank will not have my payments. There is a certain amount of time that the bank is going to take payments here and there. If you are as well deep in the hole, they may commonly require that you pay the particular payment 100 %. However, that doesn’t mean that they will have any sort of payments at all. In the event you and the loan company can seem to work some thing out, the actual foreclosure method may cease. However, should you continue to miss out on payments beneath new plan, the property foreclosure process can pick up exactly where it left off.

I mean, I know it was my choice to read through, nonetheless I genuinely believed you would have something interesting to say. All I hear is a bunch of complaining about something you could fix if you weren’t too busy seeking attention.
