The reality of Indian reality tv shows

Fri, Sep 5, 2008

Reality shows are famous all over the world. India also managed to “adapt” a few popular ones to its own desi style. Popular examples are Kaun Banega Crorepati or KBC, an Indian version of “Who wants to be a millionnaire?”, “Indian Idol” on the lines of “American Idol”, “Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Hain?”, an adaptation of “Are you smarter than a 5th grader”?. We are good at copying. Many Bollywood movies and out TV shows are copied plainly. Anyways, we take the good things, i.e. the concept, add flavour or should i say masala(because we Indians like spicy food) to it and serve it to our people. In the race of snatching TRP’s we run so blindly to finish first that we forget every ethical norm, break rules on our wish,go beyond the line where we should not go and what not. You can see it.Its all over the TV. Indian news channels are doing double job of entertainment + news channels (yeah, very little bit of that). They seem to have forgotten that we do have Discovery,Animal Planet, AXN, Aastha and other sources of entertainment. we want…ahhhh…..lets leave it here…thats another story.
our channels can even let a person die if that can raise their TRP. Reality shows have fallen to a new low. With every show, the abyss only gets deeper.

For instance see this video(you will understand the case yourself):

Now see the uncensored version:
WARNING:NSFW:Language is offensive,if you cant listen/stand swear words, mute the video or your speakers

The show was “Dadagiri”, aired on “Bindass”.

Now firstly,i am not sexist. I am myself confused.too much. But this is a very typical case. i personally, never ever have supported anyone getting physical(dont take it other wise) with any gal whatever circumstances there may be. But looking at the flow of things in this particular case, its seems the guy did the right thing. There is no sexism here. Its a question of whats morally wrong and right. If its not right for that guy to hit that girl, that girl HAD ABSOLUTELY no right to hit him on a TV show. WTF she thinks she was doing? What right does she have to insult him on TV? Only bothered about TRP’s? And those other guys? Loosers, big big that too,all of them. Trying to be her hero. Beating up the poor guy even when he was not at as much fault as the lady herself.
Very debatable.
Dont know, cant decide what he did was right or wrong. But does someone anticipate this when they go bright eyed for a tv show? A common man,on TV,its like there dream come true,to be on TV,in front of the whole nation, their moment of fame, and you are treated like this. FCUK ALL TV channels(with exceptions) and reality shows.
