News, Sports

That time is here again. The biggest sporting event on this planet, the Olympics kicks off in Beijing today. The mega event will start after a breathtaking opening ceremony in the “National Stadium” and will finish on August 24. The games will begin on 08-08-08 at 8 PM (CST). The date and time were so chosen because “8″ is considered to a be a lucky number in China.

Prominent artists like Celine Dion, Taiwan’s Jay Chou, Britain’s Sarah Brightman and China’s Liu Huan will perform apart from other 15,000 performers at the opening ceremony which promises to be the most spectacular opening ceremony ever.

(Here is how National Stadium looked during the 2nd full dress rehearsal)

Athletes from around the world will live their dreams of participating in the Olympic and will leave no stone un turned to give their best performance and, if possible, win a medal for their country.

Most of the 205 National Olympic Committees are expected to participate. The biggest delegation is from the host country itself with 639 representatives. Next comes US with 595. We also have small delegations of least possible size of 1 from Grenada, haiti,Togo,Guinea,Nauru.

Wish the games are a huge sucess.
