The world number one, Roger Federer is on a downfall ever since he lost at French Open 2008 at the hands of Rafael Nadal in a three setter. That loss as a whole was not as hurting for Federer and those who believe in him as compared to his loss at Wimbledon which is a grass court event. But now it seems, he is just finding too difficult to find his feet post those losses.
Federer is on a loosing spree something which is too uncharacteristic to Federer. Infact, he has lost 3 of his last four matches. He just lost to Ivo Karlovic, ranked 22 in the world by 7-6 (6), 4-6, 7-6 (5) in the third round of Cincinnati Masters. But his this loss means a lot to him and his rankings and ofcourse to Nadal.
This gives the Spainiard Nadal a golden opportunity to take the number one spot by Federer who has the spot under his belly for the last, hold your breath, 235 weeks! Thats roughly 4½ years of him being at the top. If Nadal goes on and wins this tournament, Roger Federer will no longer be the number one. Rafael will officially be crowned the number one.
As for my personal opinion, i would NEVER want Federer off the spot. If i can have my way, i would forever give the number one spot to him, lol. (Yeah yeah, bash me, im a fanboy).
I wish if *god forbid* *dare i say it* *the Joker slits my throat before i say it*, is Federer has to go from the spot, i hope it is decided after the big one, US Open.
