The first ever joint military exercise between two future super powers, India and China is under way.
The week long anti terror drill codenamed “Hand in hand 2007″ which started on 20-12-07 at Kunming, the capital city of Yunnan province of China marks,in a way, a new beginning in Indo-Sino relationships.About 100 personnels from each side are participating.
Its been seen as a milestone in the bilateral ties among the two nations.

Its after a long time of more than 40 years since the war we are witnessing trust and co-operation among these two Asian countries at such magnitude. The highest level efforts made from both the sides for improving the relations are now showing results. This drill is in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on exchange and cooperation in the field of defense, signed between India and China in 2006.
As they both are going to be the epicentres of the new global setup,it is the need of the hour that they develop relation based on mutual understanding, trust, co-operation rather then suspicion and anxiety. The importance of this excercise can be judged by the title itself.
Though there are still many issues concerning both the parties that need to be solved but drills like this will help boost confidence and trust and help us to settle our disputes. We hope to see more such moments.
